UnSTUCK TODAY – Not so fast

Everyone wants quick*.

Quickly get people trained. Quickly reduce expenses.

Quickly do something to boost sales. Quickly implement this new software, or business strategy.

Quickly replace this person. Quickly change this and that.

The truth of the matter is, after 35 years in business, I’ve learned that “quick” is usually a flawed strategy.

You see, quick, knee-jerk, shiny-object syndrome decisions get you in trouble. Period!

More often than not, slow is better when you’re sitting in the driver’s seat of a business. I don’t mean “slow as a toad”, or “procrastination slow” but I do mean slow enough to give you “time”.

Slow gives you time to think through possible potential alternatives, and potential risks.

Slow gives you time to think through possible implementation challenges.

Slow gives you time to build consensus for your decision.

Slow gives your people time to embrace the WHY?

In today’s fast paced technological age, we’ve been trained to live in the fast lane. It’s an addiction.

Most of us get frustrated if we don’t get an answer to an email in less than 5 minutes. Can you relate?

If you’re working on something important right now, and you’ve been moving quickly… Stop! Take a break.

Come back to it a little later…tomorrow…or maybe even in a few days. You might find you want to make some adjustments.

Remember, more often than not, slower is better. It gives you time to think. Thinking is good!

As always, have a great week!
