When the clutter in your life gets overwhelming, and you feel the walls closing in, you might start thinking…. “my life sucks.”
You may have heard the expression, “life is like a car, it needs a tune-up occasionally”.
Well it’s true, so MAKE THE TIME this coming weekend to give yourself a Personal Tune-Up.
Here are your instructions:
- Answer every email (yes, every one — and either archive, delete, or put what’s left into a folder).
- Set up “rules” to keep emails you never read (but still want to receive) from hitting your inbox. If you don’t know how to do this, I’m sure you can get help from your IT person, or Google “set up email rules”.
- Pay every bill.
- If you really need it, file every piece of paper, envelope, and post-it. If you don’t really need it, throw it away.
- Answer or delete every text on your iPhone or Smartphone.
- Clear off and/or organize your desktop.
- Make sure the in-box on your desk and on your computer is empty (yes empty).
- Make sure all your computer files are backed-up.
Most people who give themselves a PERSONAL TUNE-UP say that they feel like 50 pound weights have been taken off their shoulders. A sense of utter relief. You might even find yourself smiling, and a bit embarrassed.
SCHEDULE IT ON YOUR CALENDAR, AND DO IT THIS COMING WEEKEND.
P.S. For those of you that really want to improve the quality of your life, schedule in your Outlook or other calendar a Tune-Up Day once day a month. For those of you who never feel like you have enough time, schedule it on your calendar every 8 weeks.
There are 525,600 minutes in a year.
DON’T PROCRASTINATE and DON’T TELL ME YOU DON’T HAVE THE TIME. JUST MAKE THE TIME.
If you can’t get this done once every 8 weeks, shame on you! I suggest you take a good hard look in the mirror, admit you have a serious problem, give yourself a reality checkup, and call me. We should talk.
As always, have a great week.
